the only way you could get 400 miles to a tank on the freeway is if u tailgated a semi truck the whole time or drove down hill. that averages to 31 mpg if you drain the tank to empty.

i usually get 200 - 250 with a heavy foot around town, and 250 - 300 on the highway with the cruise set at 70 or 75.

I use a tank full a week commuting to work & I always reset the trip meter,
I consistantly get 27.5 MPG & the most miles on the meter with out running out
of gas was 377 mi. If I fill it to the neck it might make it to 400 on fumes.
This is on a high miles car, 155,000 mi. & I rarely go above 2500 RPM

Do let us know, I'd be interested to see the difference.

400 / 15.7 = 25.47, Not 31.

i dont want to steal the thread or anything but my gas light comes on when it hits the last bar on the gas gauge and when i fill it up it never takes in more than 12 gallons of gas. Is my tank smaller or something?

I have a 2002 v6

Hey guys, I need some help. I've been absolutely BABYING my 1999 v6 and I'm getting terrible gas mileage. I have around a quarter tank of gas left, and I've only got 160 some miles on the trip meter. What could be wrong? It's got 93,000 on it. Is there anything I need to have replace or checked. From what I've read here, I should be able to get between 25-28 mpg and I know I'm not even getting close to that.

I'm not sure. I just bought the car a few weeks ago. I'm not really sure, but I'm guessing not recently.

I talked to my uncle today. He told me I need new transmission fluid, a new fuel filter, and the struts replaced. Not sure if any of that stuff would affect fuel efficiency.

the trany fluid and filter can but idk about struts, prolly wont hurt it tho. what i would do is take it for a service to see if all the sensors are working correctly. having the fuel system cleaned wouldnt hurt either
