You can use a SCT XCAL2 to firm up the shift points in an auto...It makes the auto come alive...

Auto's are more consistant at the track...But me personally I prefer the 5-Speed...I just prefer the 5-Speed over the auto...Now if I lived in a city with heavy traffic I would have taken an auto into consideration...But I dont do alot of big city driving so a 5-SPeed is fine...But for your first car an auto might be right up your alley...

with a 5speed you can save more gas a lil if you drive right lol
at first i thought i had to shift at 3k rpms
then 2.5 then 2k but now i shift a lil under 2k when im tryin to save gas...and if im on grandma mode...1.5k

i have the 4r70w auto tranny for the essex v6 family of motors. you can jerry mod the tranny- http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/index.html# follow Modifing Valve Body to Jerry's specifictions - Jerry's mod-

and then tune the tranny through the ecu with the SCT XCal 2 tuner or on the dyno. you can shift faster and at different set rpms and speeds.

for example- i have no rev limit, but i redline at 6k rpms instead of stock 5250 through a tune that also adds 25% firmer shifts at 7mph differences in speeds.

and auto will break traction if you hold brake with one foot gas with other at a set rpm in the converter. get a higher stall and you can rev up higher before breaking traction to the rear wheels, thus better launches on sticky tires.

contact VMPTuning.com and let them know you are a member here. they are the go to guys for tuning on the v6, and they are great with the modular v8 as well...

me personally.. 5speed, cuz if you just wana hit the high notes on your exhaust slowly while driving with an auto you can cuz it'll switch gears

plus 5 speed is all the more fun

if you get the GT just drive normal dont go crazy

i mean i'd choose the V8 over the 6 if it was free and no money left over cuz yea i mean its a big difference

but who knows if you get the GT i'd go with a 5speed
n first thing i'd do is exhaust on that bad boy

you can tell your dad that you'll do good inschool and shit an see if he gets your the GT

k the SCT XCAL2 is a tuner for the car. it can tune many different things are your car including the shift points for when the transmission will switch gears on the auto

but a stock auto GT vs a manual 5speed GT...if the drivers both were good the 5speed will win

the jerry mod may be too much for now, look into a shift kit to firm the shift points. you should be able to satiate any street desires through dyno tuning and the SCT XCal 2 though. the j mod and converter and transbrake are really for cars that see a lot of track time
