Resale is higher from I have seen on the V8...
The V8's have a V8... The V6's are nice too and can be faster then the V8...But it is going to be costly to do... The V8 does cost more then the V6 to buy new though... |

umm im not sure with the new v6's but the v8's have t-lok which will put power to both wheels and if you burn out it evens out the torque which makes it safer to drive. iono tell him something like the v8 will last longer or doesnt have as many mechanical problems because ford put alot more time into designing it where as the v6 is just a fairly new design. hell make some shit up. id lie out my ass for a new gt/ i wish my dad would get me a new car lol instead he gave me $2500 and said get whatever. so i saved some mullah and got this baby

Honestly. I would rather have the v6. The v8 needs a new tune for every little thing you do to it. Now if you have mopney to mod it get the v8, but over all the throttle response on them sucks. I felt no power in them till about thrid gear. I really was serious about getting one till I test drove and I was way more impressed with the v6 than the v8. So personally I would ask my dad for the money for the gt get a v6 and mod it.

Everyone on this sight who owns a v6 will tell you to buy a v6 and mod it out so its faster then a v8 for whatever reason they thinks its cheaper and easier or someshit but personaly i owned a v6 now i own a gt v8. the v6 had all the bolt ons and when my gt was stock it was still more fun to drive. and to be honest if your an idiot you can die in a v6 just as easy as a v8. dont know what your $ situation is but gas will cost a little more plus the cars more... collision premiums wil be slightly higher due to car value but liability no matter what the idiots on this site tell you will not be differnt between the two cars. buy the GT!! you will be so much happier ever heard a gt owner say "yaaaa its got the v8 but i wish i had the v6" but how many times have you heard a v6 owner wish the had a v8????

A tlok can be addedafter to the v6 stang for not much.Ya,it would take around 6K to build it to compete with a gt(stock).I am an owner of a v6 07 stang, and while it a strong ride for what it is i would go gt if you can swing it but it all depends on how much power is enough for you and what plans you have for your car.Don't forget to check out insurance rates before deciding depending on your age it could be a big difference
![]() edit:reading the question again, lol,i can understand the dad's point of view. It's hard to contest.. |

dude. it just sounds like you want a v8...so why even say v8 GT vs v6...
aside from the engine...there isnt a difference... heres the difference 2cylinders and i think 80-90hp if your 16-17 i think those 300hp GT's are to much power for you, your gunna wana floor it and it'll cost you and maybe your life. start with a v6 and work your way up with mods on it. your not gunna own a GT at a young age and not drive it like you stole it.

you'll regret getting a v6 over a v8. ive had the pleasure of driving both and stock for stock of course the gt owns but its just has that american muscle power feel ya know.
think of it this way. would you rather have an mk3 supra turbo or mk4 supra n/a? i hope you would choose the mk4. but get the gt . if your gonna spend that knid of money why not get the best you can and i agree with chris about if your young and having a v8. but hell my friend wrecked his 96 v6 manual beause he took a turn and floored it and ran into the wall. hell i drive mine like i stole it ever since the day i got it. one day im kinda hoping someone will run into the drivers side of my car and either barely hurt it so it can be fixed or total it so i can get more for it than i payed

this is the kids first car, MOST kids will crash or hit or something with there first car. and gas...is alot for a kid. you wana crash your already high insurance car since your a 16-17(IM GUESSING since ur dads getting u the car) after a crash or ticket anything! your insurance will go crazy! my opinion is a v6.. even those who think their the best crash...even pro's do! its not worth it

ya i see where your coming from chris but im guessing chances are if his dad is buying him a brand new car, insurance and gas wont be a big deal for him. im sure if he has to pay for insurance and gas himself he would go the v6 route but i truley doubt it. either way man as long as its not a shitvic or something lol. but good choice of cars

haha i know if i had a v8 as my first car i probably wouldnt be typing this right now. i think my car was a good learner car. not too much power and not too slow. its raceable but not gonna make me wreck because i cant harness the power. plus its standard and first gear plus turning in the rain with almost bald tires is bad.... lol. good luck with what you get. youll be happy either way. i got this over a 1981 gmc sierra with a vette engine pushing over 400hp and im happy with it. plus that cars a chick magnet

if new, i would get the 8 over the 6 any day for many reasons including the motor, the rear end, and the electrical is complicated on all s197 stangs, not just the v8

i hear what u guys r sayin about safety and stuff but ya it has alot to do with the driver... not the engine. and we all know if you get the v6 wut r u gonna do??? ur gonna stock it to become some what like the GT so thats my point. and how to convince my dad to get the v8. cause when u buy the v8 vs the v6 the price difference isnt much but the difference is alot more when u stock the v6 which most people do. it cost alot to stock it when its already in the GT. wut would u guys say if you were buying a v6 or v8 cause ud want the v8 but i need some more tips to say to my dad y i should get the v8.
thanks again |

maybe you can tell him you will be sure to get abs and tcs options and will handle it better in bad weather. That's sorta stretchin it,but that's all that comes to mind.I don't know what you are driving now,but the v6 4.0 litre engine is pretty decent.Hell,if you are getting either one for FREE,christ what more do ya want?I work my ass off just to have this.
btw,it's about a 7-8 grand difference stock to stock no options.I would'nt call that not much as a person could put that in the v6 and it would be faster than a stock gt.Just an example.I love all mustangs We are a brotherhood

take a minute to think about it ...
if you bought a v8 would that satisfy your needs? or if you bought the v6 could you spend the extra 5000++ on something else? and besides ... gas/insurance will of course be higher for v8 just lets put it this way ... you want just straight power from the start? then get a v8 you want "the underdog" and add few parts and own a v8 ez also dont get 07 -.- i have the 07 and im stuck at home waiting for parts to come out v6 FTW and if your heart desires the v8 more go to that sections im pretty sure they got alotta dirt to discuss
