trueballerisme, Its hard for any of us to give a 100% objective opinion because each of us has his/her own personal preference....
My personal preference is I really enjoy driving a Stick... Its just fun to shift through the gears and "feel" things... but while I ENJOY driving a stick, my mustang is an auto. I have big plans for it in the future, and I want to have consistant ET's withouth the worry of shifting, or the possability of mis-shifting. It is totally up to what YOU feel is best for YOU.... If you really like shifting gears, grab that manual... If you want to concentrate on other things or you might be putting some serious HP down, grab an auto..... Ah, also... if you have never driven a stick... you REALLY want to drive one before you make your choice

Very true, and they also are more expensive from the stand point of having to prepare it to be more 'race worthy'.
They are also more expensive when they blow out from the car and scatter all over the track... (been there, done that.... LOVE those GM TH350's!!) |

ya manuals are way cheaper. if something goes wrong with it its much cheaper to fix. also you dont have to beef up manuals like you do an auto. so if you want something thats more "race worthy" when you first buy it. get manual. you buy em and theyre good to go. you buy an auto and you gotta put money into it first thing. thats always something to consider

Manual is cheaper all around
racing, car price gas (if your not in the high rpms like an idiot 24/7) maintence i havent seen one vote for auto yet. dont keep yourself tooo set that your gettting a GT, saving money after gas, insurance isnt as easy as you think. not to mention if another person comes in such as a gf. also you crash, that money out your pocket, then you have the regular expensense like buying food, a drink all that. trust me ive figured out about 4 months ago that i'd have $2,500 right now, instead i have gotten rims, brakes re-done, changed all my plans i originally had, the gf is also money, getting food and all that saving for a GT is nothing like saving for a new video game or anything like that. i'd stick with auto, chances are your gunna have that V6 for a while

its not just hp man. theres alot of things that play the role. youve got overall weight, weight distribution, torque, tires, and stuff like that.

dude seriously most ppl with those fast ass car that have auto is not the auto like the car comes with...its usually a wierd lookin lever that im pretty sure only has 2 gears and it goes front to back once.
plus i'd say when your in the 10s thats when auto is better maybe
