V10 Mustang

Hey Guys, and Gals

Does anyone have information on V6 to V10 SC swap. U see i found this great deal on a Supercharged V10 from F-150 lightning, but modded. it's a 5.4L V10 with an Auto transmission producing 500hp to the wheels (tested according to the company that is selling it). They are also supplying the ECU, TCU, and everything in between.

My questions are:
- Is this possible?
- Will i have enough space in to fit that big V10?
- If it's possible, what do you recommend for drive shaft? should i get one from an F-150 lightning maybe, but if i do will it fit in my 2004 sixer?

i also stumbled on these videos of a V10 mustang engineered by ford, it's a test mule that will never see the light and thta what got me inspired:

and also this article in Motor Trend, about the same car:

Question, Questions, Questions...........

meh. seems like alot for a high 11's ride but if you got the skill the cash the time and the ambition do it...if they can get an LS1 in a civic i think you can do this ha

LOL.... LS1 in a CIVIC

well..... on cash i am fine....kinda.....hopefully
time, i really don't have much of. U see i am actually in China right now. yep, China. i am working here, but i have the sixer in L.A. i am coming back for 15 days, and that's all the time i have.

about the LS1 in civics, are you sure about that. I've seen LS1 in a Z280, which is bad ass, but never in a civic. anyway, i hope someone will give me some pointers on this project.

I actually wanted to put a 2jz-gte at the beginning , but i read about it, and it's almost impossible to do as a weekend project. and it will cost almost 10K. so i saw this video and said, hmmmm, is it possible??????

WOW

Dude, you were right, if a civic can fit a big V8 like LS1 then my stang can definitely fit the V10. isn't that the engine from Z06?

i have seen photos of a ford v10 as well as a viper v10 in mustangs, so yes it is doable. it would take a lot of custom work to be done, prolly a custom drive shaft, and you would have to completely redo the mustang suspension, brakes, and what not. not to mention a hell of a dyno tune. the ecu from the lightning most prolly wont work... and anyways... when did v10's come in lightnings? im not too familiar with them but last i heard they had the cobra engine in them, not v10s

sorry...... I misread, it's V8 5.4L SC, modded to 500HP. why wouldn't the ECU from the lightning work?

its made to work with the lightning, not the mustang. you would need a dyno tune.. youd get better results with the dyno anyways.

Hold on, but the engine is lightning, so why wouldn't it work? and if it doesnt, whats the solution?

different electronics in the stang and the lightining. i have a 3.8 v6. the thunderbird supercoupe has a 3.8 v6 supercharged. same engine. i have the supercharger from the supercoupe that im going to put on my mustang. i cannot use the ecu from the thunderbird, even though itll be same engine (built slightly different) and the supercharger. just because its the same engine does not mean the ecu will work

the solution is as soon as the engine is installed you have it towed to a dyno shop and have them dyno tune it, or have the dyno shop send you a tune for an x-cal2/3/livewire then drive it to the dyno shop so they can tune it further. all in all, you will have to take it to the dyno shop to get it to run right

its been done
its not worth it
it takes a lot of customizing
lets put it this way. all 6second and record breaking cars are v8s
if they wanted to go faster im sure they would have customize the piss out a of a v10
