i barely know anything about all the parts and mustangs and everything. can u guys teach me some stuff that i should know, like even the basic stuff. like were do clip-ons go. and about the s/c and turbo kits. wut r those and where do they go. and stuff on cool-intake, wut is all that. and all that stuff that you think i should know or basic stuff to know about parts and building a mustang and wut parts do wut.

the cool air intake (CAI) is pretty much what it says.. it lets cool air into the engine and when combined with other perfromance parts can make your horsepower (hp) increase

s/c is a way of forced induction into your engine producing big hp gains. it runs off your belt and turns the pulleys quicker therefore adding more compression turning into hp. s/c also take hp to run them.. but not much

turbo is another way of forced induction. it runs off your exhaust. the exhaust runs out through your headers into the turbo. the turbine inside the turbo spools up and forces the exhaust back into the engine (usually though an intercooler) and produces boost that way. a turbo and s/c running at the same psi.. the turbo will win due to not being belt driven

bolt-ons are performance parts that can be bolted on with simple tools. there are many different types of bolt ons you can have on your car.

if you are looking into modding then you would need to look into a lot of other things as well, such as rear-end gears, t-loks, exhaust.

well theres a lot of posts on here.. you could also just research a lot of things on the internet.. thats a way a lot of people here learned.. as well as doing things themselves. you can also browse through these forums... there is a lot of good information and many things you could learn from them. also if you want to know something just ask. there are plenty of people on here with a lot of knowledge that can teach you a great deal

heres some more performance parts that are pretty common

nitrous- im pretty sure uve haerd of this as NOS but basically its the cheapest way to get temporary horsepower and a nice amount of torque
usually you'll order by the shot. like 50 shot 100shot. 50 shot generally will give you around 50hp and a lil more tq.
they range from 50 to 1000 i believe!
its used by pressing a button and instantly getting massive amounts of power or not so massive. most ppl might use it:
off the line to get a good start, or at the end of the 1/4 like about 1/6 of the way or past the 1/8 mark to get that last jump

TUNER/chip- alot of people on this site will recommend to you the SCT-XCAL2, its a flasher/tuner that can tune your car to different settings on how you want it, it can tune modifications as well, you can also install tunes to give you hp


headers- long tubes, short, or mid length headers. if your not goin turbo long tube headers would be your best bet for most power, sound and performance. they go fromthe engine to the mid pipe to the exhaust

underdrive pulleys- its a pulley lol. im not 100% about it but i believe it doenst give you any hp but will improve performance by freeing up horsepower


gears- very common mod usually most ppl will go with 3.73 gears or 4.10. the bigger the numer the quickey you'll accelerate. gears will not give you any hp but it will DEFFINITLY improve your cars acceleration greatly and performance.


t-lok- all v6 mustangs only have one wheel that spins usually its the passengers side. t-lok allows both your wheels to spin for an increase in tractions and to stop dulling one wheel
plus one wheel peel outs are not only embarassing but...GAY

if you want good reads go to books a million or some store like that and look for books by corky bell about boost, that man is amazing and if you can understand his books, youll have s/c and turbos down with out a problem

Not sure how much you do or do not know, but http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ is a great site to get the good basics down on alot of things...

Check it out and see how motors work, manual/automatic transmissions, differentials, turbo's, superchargers, nitrous oxide injection, fuel injection etc. etc....

Once you have a good idea on that, then all of the add-ons you can purchase for your car will make a lot more sense.... Like when someone tells you to get a more aggressive cam, you will have a better feel for what they mean... that kind of thing..

where did that come from? i sed i dont know how you can use it with out it being illegal..

i never sed anything about installing it...
its not a very difficult install just time consuming

it's not illegal to have it in your car, but it is illegal to use, while driving on the highway. my dad has a couple of cop buddies, and they said that they are working towards outlawing having nos in your cars, plus my dad works in media, so he finds out about whats going to become illegal on cars in the future.

also in the very near future in florida, neon and led under glo kits will be illegal. just a heads up for us florida boys.

my uncle who is an ex-cop told me that the red and blue neons are illegal because they are emergancy colors.....but i dont know about any other colors...and the red and blue goes for all states

not true in GA- they just cant be on top of the roof or in the grill/headlight assembly at 15". under car or in car is fine here
