v6 5.0 project

i have a 2000 convertible and it has sentimental value to it, its got 160K miles on it and im putting in a pretty stock 302 from an 86 GT. i know i could just buy a new GT but that wouldnt be MY car i think some ppl understand that. anyone out there know of any thing like kits or what not that would help in the process that owuld be great also what kind of parts should i go example: ford racing edelbrock ect...

thnaks!!! dont be shy to send a private message either

Its not a bad swap but it would be alot easier with a 5.0 donor car.....

personally i think a swap like this is only worth it if your planning big for the car this way when you install most the parts its going to be something you only have to do once..
why throw a return style stock pump and later if you want a turbo or s/c go with a bigger pump then bigger injectors then later tare down the 5.0 to put h/c/i because stock ones are garbage
then put stock exhaust and later upgrade that too...
same with most the modifications it'll take to make the swap

i see what your saying "itschristorres8" but my thinking is..... Im in college, dont have alot of money and my car isnt running well at all its got 160K miles on it and its rough, so im doing this swat in order to avoid a new car payment, and higher insurance payment. thats my thinking I could be wrong but im thinking about 5,000 for engine, and everything i want to do vs ill say 10-11000 in just the car, not to mention insurance....

thats my thinkin i could be doing a stupid thing, but ive always wanted a 5.0 mustang and I LOVE the 99-04 body styles!!!

thanks for your input!

you could buy a 94 or 95 convertible 5.0 for under $5000 and save the headache of the swap.. not to mention sell your car for a couple grand and beef up the 5.0 or save it for beer and pizza.. you know.. the college essentails

I completly understand man. I say go for it, IF you have the motor and the know how. make sure the engine you put in will run strong like your going to need it to and last you through college and possibly after aswell.

Not trying to thread jack, but question. Say you could get a running 87-93 fox, could you take the motor, tranny, AND rear end out of it and swap it into a 99-04? I'm not to sure about the width of the rear axle, or the difference in the trannys and such. How much custom work would need to be done?
