i think maybe 10-20 lbs if you take all this stuf off.

i can weigh it if i remember when i go home some weekend but that might not be till October.
and you could save more if you took the condenser and all the stuff from behind the dash out.

you can pick it up from the ford parts department at most dealers.

if you take out the evapoter, squirl cage, and blower motor thats more weight you can save

for weight crazy guys which no stock motor bolt on car should really be worried about these are some listed mods

a/c delete
power sterring delete
tubular k-member with tubular a-arms
wipers- motors and all, its worth more then you think with the motor and full assembly out
front support bar brace. take off your front bumper you'll see a big brace across the front its worth about 10lbs...with out it, can cause some serious damage. theres also one in the back.

wiper fluid resivor and assembly
believe it or not a lot of suspension mods weigh less then stock.
then the obvious- rear seat, spare tire, jack...

for more serious guys
if you get lexan or permant windows. by permant i mean there is no way to roll them down they weigh less.
cut out the door metal, window lift motor and track on each side is worth ALOT of well a good amount.
sound denation. peel off your carpet and all that ugly looking shit under just peel off and take out.

one over looked one is STOCK RIMS!
or light weight rims! aluminum racing wheels 15x4s up front

carbon fiber hood and trunk
smaller fuel cell(gas tank)

theres some metal in the back seat that you can also cut away at in the sides

there are some more but i cant remember
small stuff like switching electric seats with manual is worth about 15+lbs

alltogether all these weight reductions should easily sit you in the 2800s or better depending on tranny and also from stock. stock being about 3200lbs

rear seat, passenger seat, tire and jack is worth over 100lbs
k member alone is worth 40lbs, odessy battery 20lbs(thats another), gutting the door is probably another hundred with the windows
front and rear beams is about 20-30lbs
a-arms are probably 30lbs together
a/c delete, wiper delete, power sterring delete and window washer delete is probably another 50lbs all together no including the inside components of your a/c,(squirel cage, evap..)
no to mention the power it gives back the motor
electric to manual seat is 15lbs to add to the list
smaller fuel cell like an 8 gallon or 10gallon vs the 15 gallon(stock) with a full tank will make a huge difference. imagine 5 gallons of milk in your hand and then not having it

my car weigh'd out to 3050lbs with the front support brace off, no front sway bar(thats another item)
no rear seats or passenger seat, no spare(jack was in there)
manual seat

so imagine the rest of the mods to go on..
with everything listed easily i could probably gain at LEAST the minimal of .5 of second in the 1/4 most likely more

So i read that entire thread on the other site about CF...and talked to my mother about it (She is a chemical engineer (masters, thesis away form PhD) and i know she has dealt with epoxies) and it turns out she used to work on Kevlar and CF laying for McDonald Douglas and Alcoa....and even taught about it at Carnegie Mellon University. I may undertake a similar project...though not as much in depth, in the near (but not too near feature) I would defiantly sell the parts I am able to make, so watch for an update on here in the near future. (parts would be for 94-98, as i have a 95).

very cool man, definitaly keep us updated on it.

if we had the same body style i would definitaly be interested in buying the parts, because i would love to get my car down to 2800-2850 lbs

and one thing i would do if i were you would be try making some more of the unusual parts like the c pillar cover, or roof, or things like that.

If i do sell the parts it will mainly be to recover the cost to put the parts on my car. But if business is good....who knows.

very true,
but if you think there is going to be the chance of making multiples, make sure you make a re-unsaleable mold.

been thinking about that, could hit up a bone yard and make molds from pulled parts. But depends on demand and such. this is all still theoretical and i am weighing options and doing a little calculating and asset assessment. (I am currently dealing with some legal issues, I am between jobs right now, and am a college student.) So investment wise I don't have much (if any) money to start this, as there is a large start up cost. Thankfully I have had 4 interviews now at Circuit City and have a job offer as long as I pass a background check (which as mentioned before may be a problem, though I have been convicted of nothing yet, I am charged with a felony). I asked my mother about an investment on her part and she is more than skeptical about the profitability of this venture. Any finical support from her is highly unlikely unless I can produce some solid numbers and predictions.
