that is a misconception, ranking in heat produced by the compression it goes(coolest to hottest) centri s/c, t/c, twin screw s/c, and by far the hottest, roots s/c. centri s/c arent that much cooler than t/c though, any compression heats stuff up quite a bit. t/c are more often intercooled becaose of the ease in making an efficcient IC for them. Many s/c arent IC'ed because of the low boost normally being run by them, but all of the good ones for petrol engines usually are, it being IC'ed is just far less noticable many a time than the obvious FMA-AIC like on many turbo or centri s/c set ups

for example my SAAB has no IC(most models of the time do, just not the american) and it runs about 9-12.5 peak boost just fine, many older models did have WI though. IC became standard on all SAABs when the 4v head was introduced in the 85 model year(the head also yeilded 9:1 compression with the same level of boost though)

I just pulled my stock 4.6L and put in a 5.1 stroker with the Whipple 3.4. I'm wondering if I should tune it with nitrous or not.
