Block
im 17 now and did the usual longtubes, o/r x pipe, dual flowmasters, and recently got my new cobra front and was going to get some wheels but soon scratched that idea. Im looking into getting a big block and tinkering with it as money comes in and was wondering where some good blocks were being sold. any ideas thanks guys lots of nice (and fast) cars here

You should look into a stroker kit...

i say buy another 3.8 or 3.9 engine that will swap directly no, no problems no questions asked and just build that one as money comes in, then just swap over exhaust and your set to go.

i'm all for swapping big blocks, but be aware that you will lose almost all functionality as a daily driver from your car... if you want a big block car, buy a fox body and keep the 6-er as a daily... seriously, once you have this motor built up, and ready to go, it will cost more to prep your car for it than it would to buy a fox body roller... you can pick up nice rollers for $1200 all day long... i bought a running donor car that i'm driving daily until the engine is ready for $700

The biggest I have ever seen in a SN95 was a 351, I dont know if youll be able to fit anything bigger than that in without serious mods.

if they made a v10 fit in a new edge
a big block can too a 460 is a little much though? why a big block? theres so many smaller motors that are MUCH easier to fit and make some big power example 347 is probably one of my favorite small block motors. bad as hell just n/a 351w with a 408stroker would also be badass with PLENTY of n/a power you could hit 450+on just the 351w stroked 500hp n/a is doable on the right setup then add 150shot and your 10s or better WITH supporting mods now you might think oh shit this is the way to go kinda. kinda not 408stroker motor fully assembled, machined the short block will generally be about $3000 and ive seen it done for less. this would include forged rods, pistons, crank, bearings, machine bored, linehoned then hot tanked. heads/cam and intake wont be too much more maybe $2-3k yes a 408 motor is cheaper then building a v6 kinda! i can built a 6 for $5k but will i do that for someone NO cause its slave work. power will be a HUGE difference but thats not the costly part fuel tranny rear end computer all that gets costly now when you do an all out v6 4.3/4.2L stroker and turbo it to 500+rwhp you will for sure have to get new tranny, rear end fuel mods and all it will be a tad bit cheaper then the 408 only because you wont need a new computer wiring harness or radiator and other misc mods but the cost isnt much more then $1k over but conversions parts will be kinda tricky which is why if your going to do a v8 swap in these cars its best to make it worth it a 4.6 SOHC is NOT worth it a stock 302 is probably also not worth it only really worth it to build up a 302 or 306 at least this way when you start the car you have more then 260 crank power
