A/c compressor

So, the a/c compressor is going out of my car. Im seriously broke as a mofo, so what do you guys think about me pulling the compressor out and putting in the pulley that imitates the the a/c compressor pulley? My compressor hasnt gone out yet, but it makes a noise, and the pulley is loose. Anyone done this? Any opinions?

i did it, the only real benefit is a little wight reduction and maybe freeing up 1-2hp

and just so you know the pulley is around 70 dollars.

and if you do decide to do it i am working on a right up on how to, from when i did it. i should have that done by the end of next weekend.

yes but if he can get the clutch for $75 or something like that... then what's the harm in fixing the a/c?

oh i didnt read fully
its easy to check
with the car off see if you can move the middle of the pulley. not the actual pulley

next with the car on have some one turn the a/c on. if the middle doesnt spin either the clutch, compressor, or switch is bad or theres a poor connection
