basically, shifting is all about fluid transfer. the faster you can get the fluid to transfer through the valve body (a huge plate with a dozen paths the fluid can follow), the harder your shift. A shift kit just uses a couple springs and relocates a couple things to allow the fluid to transfer much faster. This is also why using a super synthetic tranny fluid like trick shift from b&m is a plus, it flows alot faster than basic tranny fluid. You can also use a programmer to up the line pressure. This just forces the fluid through at a higher pressure, instead of changing the traveled path.

some of that might be wrong, anyone can feel free to change it.

but like woody said in that post, who cares how they work. Do you kno how to use a credit card? well charge one to your account, have someone put it in, and have at it haha, cause you dont need to kno how they work to use one. It does the thinkin for you.

I'm the type of person that wants to tear shit apart just to find out how it works, then put it back together again
