6-speed transmission?

I'm getting ready to do a manual transmission swap for my auto 04. Just out of curiosity, is there a 6-speed transmission that would bolt up to the 3.8? Or is our only option the 5-speed?

It is just better overall to have 6 gears over 5 when talking about performance and gas mileage and it would be something different

wow that is really expensive. that's what I was looking for though. Just wondering if it could be done... and since I'm starting from nothing and having to piece it together, I thought it would be worth looking into.

How is it not better for performance when you can stay in your peak power range of the RPMs through shifts much more easily than a T-5?

I believe that kit is for a 4.6, not a 3.8

The T-56 is geared MUCH taller then the 5 speed making you slower. Sure the gears are closer together but 1, 2, and 3 are taller, 4th is the same, 5th is a bit shorter in the T-56, but 6th is much taller then 5th in the T-5. IMO a 3.8 couls not make enough power (unless there is a power adder running much PSI) to make use of the taller gears.

there's no more power because the final drive ratio's are so close.
