Thinking about trading in for a GT...

It's a '02 black convertible GT with 80k miles on it, very clean and good condition. I'm going to test drive it Monday.

Right now I have a mineral gray '01 V6. As far as i can tell the only mod is has it a CAI, though the exhaust may not be stock because it has a really loud deep growl to it.

I would be only be paying about $90 a month more than what I pay now, so what would be the pro's and cons of the GT over the V6? Do the convertible tops suck in any way, like water leakage or unreliability?

I'm thinking it would be cheaper in the long run just to buy the GT and slap a body kit on it than to mod mine to make it as fast.

Thanks in advance fellas.

the gt isnt a whole lot faster. worse gas mileage, more payment, etc. just slap some nos in the v6 and stay with it. or go for the gt lol. it sounds cooler. haha . it all comes down to "do you have enough money to buy a gt"

The monthly payments aren't an issue, I have the cash it's just in the long run I want a quick car with a nice body kit and I'd like to hear some of y'all opinions, or what you would do in my situation.

Right now I have my V6 looking nice (besides a few small things) but all it has is CAI, so I want to make it faster. If I bought the GT, it's faster, but I'd have to invest in a body kit and rims to make it look like I want.

I've only had my Mustang since April and I'm still learning about them, but I love mine, I'm damn near obsessed.

definately go with the gt. true its not toooo much faster stock vs stock but it is a v8 none the less. sure you can build a v6 to be faster than a v8 but you put those same mods and you'll be owning that v6... i regret having a v6. i wish i had a v8 something or another. on 6 cylinder i would want is a grand national

meh just depends if your willing to mod the car engine wise or just keep it stock. In the long run you can get alot more out of a GT with the same mods on a v6. But it really is your choice personally iw ant to be different and thats why i have my v6 and i'm moding it. so i can laugh when i beat you GT's and go o yeah it's only a 6er.

GT... and no i have never had any problems with my convertible top and its been up and down many times.. the only downside is if your in a hurry and just wanna run your car through a car wash.. to bad for your luck lol. but i always wash my car by hand anyways so its not a big deal.

I would have to say it is easier to mod a GT also, there are alot more options when it comes to upgrades for the GT compared to the V6. The main reason I have a V6 is insurance. Either way its a Mustang!

I am almost 18 so insurance dose suck !

And I agree you kids that want the stupid inport cars. If you buy a mustang then put as much money in it as you would spend on a stupid stock inport. YOU WOULD KILL IT.

I think I'm going to stick with my V6. I only have 6k left to pay on it, then no more note and I can start getting stuff done. the GT would be nice, but I prefer the color and kit on my car and being quick isn't my #1 priority, but the few extra thousand I'd spend on simply having the GT, I could get full bolt ons and maybe sniff at a turbo.

Though that convertible would have been nice down here in the south Louisiana heat =D
