it is easy to bolt on an offroad X or H pipe and a new cat back. if you do not get MIL eliminators or a tune to turn off the rear oxygen sensors, then your car will throw a check engine light with subsequent codes. your car will not run bad without cats. your car will not pass emissions without cats.

ever consider a high flow mid pipe?

pretty much,
back when i first got my car, i had taken it to a mechanic (my moms idea of a mechanic) to cut the story short, he only gutted one of my cats.....so im free flow on one side and the other side is still got its filter. hoping that will change in like a month or so.

Yes. A high flow H or high flow X pipe is an H or X pipe (usually 2.5" stainless steel, mandrel bent tubing by aftermarket manufacturers) with a set of higher flowing catalytic converters. these better flowing cats keep you emissions legal but also allow for more rear wheel horsepower and better sound over stock. You do not need to worry about throwing a CEL with a high flow mid pipe.

Disregard this post:

That has absolutely nothing to do with high flow mid pipes, nor is it a good idea to do that to your car.

i dont think removing the cats is that big of a performance upgrade. especially on a v6. there are 4 right? on my old v6 f150 they were all high flow. anyways, you should research dynographs of catted verses non-catted engines. I think the difference might be like 1-5%. if you are just doing it for bigger pipes i would go with a catted system just for the insurance of not getting a huge ticket if you get caught. plus the hassle of swapping out exhausts every year so you can pass emissions. just my two cents.

yes, the v6 mustangs have 4 cats, 2 per bank.
another issue, not all states have emissions testing. here in GA, i have no repercussions of having an offroad exhaust system.
the best flowing high-flow cat's i've seen in dyno testing have been in magnaflow's high-flow mid pipes, and these outflow stock very well.

also, 5% on a 200hp engine is 10hp. not bad, and as you breathe more through the engine, that % will have more effect.
