95 v6 problems

This car has had so many problems and i finally want to fix it. I use it as my dd when the weather is bad. I just put a brand new motor in it because i blew the head gasket on the old one. It has always had a miss ive changed the spark plugs and spark plug wires and it still wants to miss. I think i even changed the fuel pump im not sure its been a while. But it still has a little over heat problem the fan wouldnt kick on. So i unplugged a sensor( dont have a clue which one) it sticks up a little behind the alternator if i remember right and the fan will stay on all the time but when its plugged in it dont miss but overheats..what sensor is this and would this fix all my problems.

If you are talking about a two wire sensor that screws into the intake manifold coolant runner, that is you're ect sensor. It is used to determine engine temperature. You're pcm uses it to determine fuel mixtures, and operate cooling fans. It is possible the sensor is faulty and the engine thinks it is cold which will cause the engine to act like "the choke is stuck on" . It also will not run the cooling fan as it thinks the engine is cold. If I remember right this year of mustang uses a seperate ect sensor for the pcm and another sending unit for the gauge. Post a pic of the sensor if at all possible and I can tell you what it is. Hope this helps you.
