rear end conversion.......

Is it possible to convert the 7.5 28 spline to 31 spline without swapping the whole rear end? I finally have the cash to fix my axels and will be swapping them out with Mosers, news bearings, C clip elims and a Tlok.

What exactly are you trying to do? Please tell me your not going to try to put 31 splin axles in a 28 spline differential

you WILL NEED A 31spline diff, tlok, posi unit w/e you want to call it

to use 31spline axles
there is no 31spline 7.5 diff so it wont work
the strongest you can make a 7.5 is by throughing a detriot 28spline trutrac(7.5) and 28spline moser axles
that should leave you good til 400-450rwhp+

No I am not trying to do a 31 spline 7.5 now that I know it can't be done. The reason I am getting new axles is because my rear driver side axle is scored where it rides within the bearing. I had the bearings changed when I first got the car last year and now it's out of warranty. I would do the 8.8 swap but there are none to be found in the DFW area (as I have called every single salvage yard within a 100 mile radius). Thanks for the info guys, now I just need to know the length of the axles and I will be good to go.

Hey Chris, the only one I could find is for a GM 7.5. Would that be the same as ours?

Eaton Detroit Truetrac Differentials - summitracing.com

Which one would it be for us?

Never mind, I found it.....

Detroit Locker 912A316 - Eaton Detroit Truetrac Differentials - summitracing.com

Stupid question though, would I still need a tlok with this?
