Need Answer (Whining Noise)


Ok so when im ideling it makes a low whining noise like really faint but i can hear it...... but when im driving its gone completely....what could be some problems.... its like the kind of whining noise you get when there isnt enough power steering fluid... but thats fine

You could check your intake for anything that is lose / just check for anything lose. Or pop the hood and listen to it. If not there is probably someone that actually knows what they are talking about that can help you.

need more details on what it sounds like when it is at any stops? or when u first start up? what area of the car?

ok well when i start it it starts perfect then when im letting my car warm up for a few minutes i can hear a whining noise yet when i tale off it goes away then when i stop at a light it starts again its only when im not moving that it does it i can hear it from inside my car and you can hear it faintly outside of it too

is it like an electrical sound sort of like a kids electric powered toy car driving around if so all v6's do it

maybe a belt ? cause the engine would mask the sound when he's driving then when he stops he could be hearing a belt or a pulley squeakin? just a guess though

i was thinking a belt, or maybe the fan noise dude dont worry about it. unless its not been doing it for the entire time you had the car then something is probably up.

just take your belt off and run it like that, you should be able to tell if it needs a new belt, could be the idler pulley, could be the smog pump, could be a cam bearing, or could be the alternator.
