'04 3.8...... What would *you* do?

Hello everyone, new to this forum, glad I found it

Just purchased an '04 3.8 litre mustang, great condition and very low mileage and I want to make it into a monster.

So my question to you all- what would YOU do to mod this car, given a budget of roughly 8 to 10k to spend. (Cuz that's basically what I'm working with.)

Mainly interested in turbo, exhaust, and 3.73 gear ratio.

Links, comments, suggestions

Thanks!

try tmaturbo.com for the turbo and drivetrain specialists on ebay for the gears they are like 130 for gears right now and then get urself a t-lok

definately want to forge the internals and upgrade all of them

you can get away with moderate boost on the stock block and internals, but you would atleast want some head studs. really depends on how much work you can do yourself, and don't have to pay someone else or a shop to do for you? would consider maybe a budget longblock from rpm-mustangs.com for about 4k and then about another 4k for the turbo kit, and then this leaves you about another grand for the gears. and you will need tuning

you have 8-10 to spend?

drop a v8 in it then do heads and boltons.

why? shit with a tt kit on a stock v6 shortblock, heads and cam you can run high 10's? not really seeing where it is worth it to buy a v8 then go through through the conversion... if you were really going to convert to v8 it would be easier to trade it in on a GT, less headaches and problems.

I was thinking about using just stock internals + low boost, but if I'm going to do something I should do it right

I want this thing to be a sleeper from hell, for it to look like just a plain ol' 6 in all outward appearnces, but destroy people when it comes to the street or (possibly) the track. High 10's sounds good to me

with 8k you can deffinitly get a gears and turbo. you can get a twin turbo for about $6k-$6.4k, and then gears $150 ebay...install another $150...exhaust about $300

but if you gunna have another $1,000 left over or a lil more if its only 8k...why not get forged internals and FLY!

also an 8.8 rear would be helpful...once you past about 300hp i think

if i had the money....

stroke it to a 4.2 -$3k
single turbo- $3,500-$4,200
8.8 rear with 3.73s-roughly about $1k
then some bolt ons

... i would rebuild the engine... power pack and then supercharge... AND a single turbo

so you have that extra kick the whole way through!!

and i would most def set it up with a lighter K member and get some tien suspension and tune it for drifitng

or buy a v8 from a junkyard and rebuilt it 15 hundred for the motor same for the rebuilt.
so you still have 3-5k left.
(it bolts right in)

then just buy a KB.

your set.

because:

a.) Pointless
b.) it'd b a nightmare to tune
c.) the stress it would cause on stock internals...
d.) s.c-$3k turbo-$3.5k, power pak-$2,350....having no money for forged internals on a 500+ hp set up=blown engine

also..if you stroke it...and get turbo for $500 throw in some nitrous!

ive never heard of the s/c and t/c set up being able to be pulled off with good effect for anybody who doesnt have major backing. Ive only seen it done well on cars like European works rally cars(if you know what that means) and hugely backed drag cars. It would not be worth it for a small shop to do, let alone a single person.

so what do you plan on doing about the wiring harness/sensor differences? cluster change, pcm upgrade, motormounts, another $800 for the frpp 8.8 w/3.73 if you plan on sticking a blown/built/4.6 into it? this is not monster garage, no freebies here? are you talking about going carbed? shit in a rebuild you can spend $200+ in fluids alone

i'm just saying for ten grand you can slap a v8 in it and in the end it might be less power that the sixer. but then again the v8 will also last a lot longer than a tt6.

and when you can get some more money throw a tt on the v8

cliffnotes..

TTGT>TTV6
