i had also tried to adjust my timing by tuning the cam sensor and with a timing light and my timing wouldn't change. it just stayed the same. is this a sign that it is bad?

I don't think so. My understanding is that ignition timing is controlled by the crank position sensor and the cam position sensor controls fuel injection timing. Someone may know more about this than I do.

My 1998 manual mustang is doing the same thing. P0340 code with an ocasional miss around 3000rpm at WOT. I am curious if the origional poster ever solved the problem. Was it the electronic sensor?

Thanks, BAM
