Hi! First time here.

Sitting in my yard ,sad, lonely, and with a locked-up engine, is a 94 Lincoln Town Car with a 4.6 v8. Sitting in my driveway, since yesterday, is a 95 Mustang with a 3.8 with 145000 miles. I bought it for cheap and it's super clean inside and out, but with the miles it has, and with my luck, I know either the engine or tranny will die, maybe sometime soon. I'm thinking rebuild the 4.6 and tranny and have it waiting. I've googled and what I've found has been "Dude, buy a 5.0."
Okay, but I don't have a 5.0. I've got a 4.6. Anybody done this swap?
Good idea, bad idea? TIA.

hey!

sell your cars and buy an 05+ gt

it will be easier

but if you want to drop the 4.6 you already have into your stang, go for it

Stop telling everyone to buy a V8 We need more modded 6ers out there. Couldn't he rebuild the engine and tranny for less then the swap? Plus he said it's still running and that's a good thing.

he wants to do the swap, just wants to know if the 4.6 or 5.0 would be better. he didnt say anything about wanting to build up the 3.8 engine

I know.... I know. So here is my new, revised opinion. Sell both vehicles and get a good, solid used V6 and build the hell out of it.

if your going to do the swap do yourself a favor a get a 5.0
in no way is the 4.6L worth the swap if its stock just the effort and labor to do so

a 5.0 on the other hand IS
h/c/i swap on that beast and tadaa you have a hole new monster that a built up 2v 4.6 would have a hard time keeping up with onmotor alone
5.0 is much stronger stock for stock
