Yes, they can cause issues with charging. i had them when i had my v6. if I was listening to the stereo with my lights on my lights would dim, if i turned the heat or ac on my interior lights would shut off. If I wanted to turn them back on i had to load my torque converter to bring my rpm's up. Depending on the conditions sometimes it would do it just with the lights on.

That's odd, Iv'e had a set on mine and my wife's for 5 and 2 years respectively and have not had any charging problems at all.

Her's a tip for removing the crank pulley bolt:

Pull the fuse for your fuel pump. start the car and let it die. put a breaker bar and socket on your crank bolt and rest it against the frame/body. bump the starter a few times and the force of the engine turning over will actually break the crank bolt free for you.

Don't forget to replace the fuse and let the pump run for a couple secs to build the pressure back up when your done.

actually, i would suggest cycling the key to the on position once or twice before starting it to prime the system all the way, makes it fire up like normal.
