oil filter


is it possible to just change the oil filter without removing the old oil or do you have to change both in order to change the oil filter.

why would you want to do that in the first place? You might be able to, I don't know though.

ive never had this problem until now. my oil filter is leaking and tightening it didnt stop the leak. Its a fram oil filter.

yes you can... also make sure that your oil filter Oring is still on the filter when you remove it and make sure that you add half a quart or so until your oil is back up to the appropriate levels.

yeah i dunno.. you won't drain all your oil but some of it will come out when you twist off the filter. so just have something to catch it.. obviously wait till the car's cold haha. but yeah you'll have a some leak out so grab a quart like said above

make sure you put some oil on the o ring as this will help seal it

just go ahead and change it you loose a good bit when the filter is unscrewed

+1 might as well just reach further back and undo that bolt and do a complete change
