Question

2000 V-6 help


hi i have a 2000 V-6 and for some reason i am losing oil and i dont know why. I am not leaking it and there is no oil in the exhaust smoke. Is there any other way that i could be losing oil from?

You either leak oil or burn oil. There is no other way to loose oil in your system. You may be at a point that you could burn a good half quart to a quart between every oil change or 3000 miles and never notice from your exhaust. Cars do this after so much use.

i lost 3 in a half quarts in 3000 miles and idk where it went

check some of the gaskets on the motor that you can visually see from the exterior of the engine. the oil pan does not have a gasket on our motors, just rubber sealant so make sure the check that carefully. also check your coolant to see if if is discolored or if there is oil in it.

there is no signs of leaking on the motor and there is no oil in the antifreeze so idk what is going on here

Oil use of around a quart in 1000 miles is probably fairly normal. It's probably going into the PVC system. 1999-2000 V6 Mustangs have a bad baffle plate design in the left valve cover so they suck up and burn a lot of oil in the PVC system. Also there may be valve stem seal problems, but that amount of oil use is probably typical.

so couldnt he just get a PCV delete from vmptuning.com? that might help...
