o2 sensors

hey well im new here but ive been using this site as a reference for a long time now but i got a question

on a 2002 v6 mustang where are the o2 sensors located before, after, or in the catalytic converters. i am planning on removing them so i am just wanting to know if it will mess anything up or if it will be ok.

and also if anyone has any soundclips or knowledge on how a 2002 v6 mustang totally stock exept for a flowmaster and a cai would sound like.

im not removing the o2 sensors im removing the catalytic converters on it. i just hope that it turns out to be a good choice right now i cant really afford to buy the h pipe and catback system or the headers lol so im jsut hoping that this will help the sound out a lil bit

oh... aight you said them so i got confussed... you will need MIL eliminators if you chose to remove the cats... they send a signal to the computer telling if the cats are still workin right... and if you remove your cats... then it will.. well mess up the computer... so you will need the new MIL eliminators... that over ride the sensors

well on the sn-95 the o2 sensors are behind the cats on the y-pipe. I don't know about the new edge, but I'm pretty sure they would be in the same spot.

On my 98 v6, there is an 02 sensor in each header. Also, there are 2 o2 sensors behind the cats by the y-pipe.

The front 2 O2 sensors are required for the engine to run well when running in the closed-loop feedback mode.

The rear 2 O2 sensors just provide feedback to turn your check engine light on or off. That's why when I got my emissions tested they just plugged into the OBDII port instead of sucking up exhaust gas.

I removed my 2 rear 02 sensors since they didn't clear my new tranny. You'll need a new tune program if you use the X-cal. I used the pro racer package to turn off the signal and the heaters to the rear O2 sensors.
