Acceleration issue
I recently replaced my alternator, and after doing so I have noticed that it doesn't accelerate as fast and the exhaust makes a loud hum when I do so. It is the correct alternator and I did everything right, but when I turn overdrive off it regains its pep and the exhaust is quieter. Is it an issue with the battery and the computer? Any ideas?

Try to reset the computer again by unhooking it for at least thirty seconds. Then see what happens. I am not sure why an alternator and overdrive would have any issues like that.

Are there any steps I have to take after I reset it? Like to help the computer? Just to avoid this problem again.

it resets the computer so that it will have to relearn all of the settings.

in electricity, the power should never touch the ground unless you like extreme heat, sparks and fire

It wont hurt a thing you just touch the ground to the power it is the same thing most mechanics do after they put back in your battery. It is just a way to reset the PCM without driving the car 75 miles, there will be no heat no sparks no damage
Learn before you guys say things

Im not being a dick but tell someone that something that will fix his car is going to hurt it is spreading false information. Which this section is full of a lot of times.

dude green.. that's a great way to make your battery explode.
don't think volts.. think amps. it's not safe to do that at all.
