4 Cats ? What the @#$% ?

Looking to change the cat. I figure it's probably the origional and maybe clogged or something or I would cut the cat out and go with no cat. I'd get a little extra growl out of the Flowmaster and maybe a litte extra horsepower.
So I go for an oil change and I get under the car and I have 4 cats. 2 on the left two on the right with all four having some sensor hooked up to it. What the $%^$ ?

The mechanic calls his parts guy and tells me it 600 beans for all 4 not including labor.

Do I leave well enough alone cause nothing is really broken. What could I spend the money on besides the cats and get some increase in hp.

Yea whats wrong with them that you want to change them.. And 600 lol umm yea who the hell would pay that just for 4 cats. I would say get a O/R H pipe if your cats are truley messed up or just spend the money on somethin else.

you only need 2 cats. or none. do not waste 600 bucks on 4 cats, its fucking retarded, just buy an o/r x pipe or h pipe, whether the cats are good or bad. Its worth it. Unless u got emissions, but you can swap it out if you need to

What would be yoursomething else? I have a v6 3.8 with a CAI and a 40 Flowmaster. Would a throttle body do anything for me and if so what would it do?

i would do the whole exhaust for 600.

if you dont have emissions:
mac long tube headers (320)
oxygen sensor extenders (30)
MIL eliminators (50)
and have a shop fab up some dumped mufflers off a little bit of pipe off the collector pipe flange (100 + mufflers cost, this should include the pipes and bungs...)

total is 500. then take your girl out to a nice dinner and buy her flowers.

O yea and dont worry about getting a throttle body. Just think about your exhaust, gears, tlock, tuner, CAI and all that good stuff.

I have bought them many times.
They are free flow, and I have used them for many applications, incluiding cutting them in half, and using them for exhaust tips: when you do,.. they glow bright red when you hammer the gas.

for the prices on those ^ you can buy some nice ones straight from the MAC dealership, and theres specifically sees free flowing on them.

If you have a web site addy then post it along with the price list.
Are they a free flow ceramic honeycomb?
Can you cut them in half without destroying them?
Can you heat shield them with ease so you don't get a hot foot?
