cold air intakes


i have a 1999 v6 mustang and i was wondering what brand intake is going to get me the biggest gain in horse power.

they all give the same gain in horse power. doesn't matter the brand.

you gain 1-3hp and some throttle response from any kit, get the cheapest you can find

home depot, pvc pipe, one 90 elbow and one 45 elbow. Your done.

question has been answered MANY TIMES. But yeah any will work the same. The filter is no big deal also with your car. The cheapy that comes with the kit will work just find. Ebay used to have some hella cheap ones, but they are gone you can still pick one up for like 70 bucks on there i believe. Cheapest one you can find is just fine

i've made several at Home Depot. here is one i did on my '91 coupe. it was origionally going to be a fenderwell cold air but i later decided to opt for more filter surface area so i modified it.

i'd have to look at the application but it's usually quite easy. i built this intake on my beater with an old K&N i had laying around. it's a but crude looking but it sucks alot more air than the factory junk. i have like $12 in that project

concidering your mass air meter actually bolts to the elbow you might be better off just spending the money on a pre-fabbed kit.

I have a BBK kit that looks just like that sitting in room right now if someone wants it. it came off of my '02.

DONT USE PVC, it is extremely dangerous when it gets hot building one from home depot is fine but use a high temp ABS plastic

I think americanmuscle.com had a CAI on there for 75 bucks. I dont think it had a brand name though i dunno.

isnt that what they all do...
it isnt the fumes PVC at even 100 degrees starts to change its molecular structure which will give off chemicals that will eat away at your engine internals

brand name doesnt matter on a cai unless you have the s197 body style then get a jlt
