Windstar intake now car wont start/run

OKey i just put on my windstar intake and got it to fit under the stock hood but now the car wont start unles i give it gas but then it knocks or makes a popping sound. Im kinda thinking it has to be a problem with the remote iac seeing as it wont start without gas but i cant see anyhting that looks wrong

you want the remote IAC lines as SHORT as possible
also remember to fill the OLD IAC port up on the top.
if not you'll have a huge leak that the MAF isnt reading.

I did cover up the hole on top, and the lines werent as short as possible, but not crazy long or anything. I tried hooking it up both ways and disconnected it and nothing changed at all. For now i just upped the idle on the trottle body and capped off everything for the iac and this is working fine so far. A little harder to start up in the morning but since then it is working fine. What are the side affects or dissadvantages/advantages of this?

No use in rigging something to work?
--- I have no other car and have college classes as well as work everyday, i think rigging something to work is a very good idea.

I will try to get pictures later tonight, but basically i had a tube running from the stock iac port on my mac air intake to the smaller side of the iac using a 3/8 fuel line fitting connected to a metal plates, and another tube running from the lowered center fitting on the windstar using the same method. The iac was ziptied by where the plug in was so i wouldnt have to extend the wires. Does the iac need to be grounded perhaps?

i mean doing something now so that it works in the short term should be ok, but what i've learned from experience is that just rigging something usually ends up coming back around and making it harder for you to do right in the first place.

ur iac doesnt need to be grounded. just plugged in. so u made something like this?

and have the iac hooked up something like this...

yes, exactly, i just routed my intake piping forward more infront of the coolant hose so my tube going to the cai is a little longer.

OK. After carefully studying the picture in the link I found, I see what you are doing with the remote IAC. This setup requires a MAF in the intake air tube. I thought with the standard manifold you had a standard MAF. So are you using a different MAF now and are you sure it's good ?

I would recommend that any place you splice wires that you solder and tape them rather than use crimp connectors. I believe it gives a better connection. Use a 30 watt or so iron and electronic solder.

By adjusting the idle stop screw you are letting some air past the throttle plate at idle. This simulates the effect of the IAC. However, there will be a problem in cold weather, since you will have no fast idle function, so the car may stall when the engine is cold.

It shouldn't be that hard to figure out how to make the remote IAC work. However, it will make no difference when the engine is at normal operating temperature. So I don't think you are doing any harm running it that way temporarily.

This is a very clean installation which uses the stock IAC. I guess the remote IAC is for hood clearance issues.

Im having nothing but issues with the VAP kit...I cant figure out how to clear the piece that is threaded all the way down..forget what its called. Ended up shearing it off at the flange and now having to connect it via hose and clamps. Still having clearance issues because its hitting the freaking throttle body arm the way the VAP kit extends the arm out. So Ive got nothing but a mess...really pissing me off.
