no v8 swap :( !!!!!! turbo is an option, help me out

Ok i was gonna get a v8 swap but it turns out its gonna be near impossible to get this done under 6 grand so F*CK that!!. Now my dad is trying to talk me out of a turbo cause he says my engine wont last. so does anyone know how long my car can last(No i will not be driving it like its stolen all the time). Its a 04 and has 45K miles on it so what do you guys think? I know one car can last a week and onother car can run nicely for 10 years but im looking for an general answer.

also how much can i get one for, under under 4,300(thats my max amount of $$) and how much does a shop charge to tune it once its installed?

i never heard of a v8 swap costing over 6 grand. ive never heard of it, never. as for the turbo, your dads wrong. it would actually be a good investment considering it improves gas mileage. which is always a good thing. as long as everything is tuned correctly, a turbo is ideal

V8 swap over 6 grand easy including parts. I got quoted 6 grand for a turbo install but that was not getting a kit that was pretty much a full custom job. If you get a kit your looking about about 3 grand and most places will include tune with the install fee I would say about 1500-2500 depending for all that. If that is getting to expensive you could get something like a procharger supercharger at 7 psi for about 4500 installed and tuned and have no worries with the engine.

i guess it depends on the shop, or the bro. My buddy dropped in my friends 302 for 500 hundred.

im sorry, but i havent really dealt with superchargers/turbos. i mostly stick with the basic block. But yes, a turbo is pretty comlicated if u ask me. considering the actual install and the pipe fabrication. do you even have nitrous though?

if you get a kit and have the knowledge and tools to install it a tune would be like 500 for the tune and dyno run probably, but if you have never done it before i would recommend either have someone who knows what they are doing watch you or get it professionally installed. As for the procharger from rpmoutlet yes the tuner would come with a tune for the s/c.

As for your engine not lasting with a turbo, when driving with one never shut of the engine right after guning it. leave the run for ~3min for the turbo to cool. Other than that u'll be fine.

Don't wanna jack u're thread but is it wise tu run a turbo in the winter???

Thanks

If anything the car would be happier running in colder climate. for a denser intake charge and too cool off the turbo. of course its ok otherwise why would tons of cars have them from the factory stock if they werent reliable in the winter.

Which ever way you decide to do forced induction if you have a 94-98 v6 mustang youll probably end up replacing head gaskets soon cause the stock ones from ford blow! quite literally.

your turbo kit idea

hey man a turbo is a bad ass thing to have but there is nothing like a v8. and what the hell kind of v8 are you running for 6k. You reallky can do one for like 4,000 nicely. But anyways check out some stuff on ebay. i wouldnt recomend buying a turbo off ebay but you have to search for good turbos. only go with brand names on ebay. you can part out your turbo stuff on ebay for really cheap. search around youll find some stuff. good luck.
