2004 V6 HP increase
Ok, so I know the only real way to gain HP is to get a V8 but I cannot afford one due to insurence and seeing that i am only in high school. So i just need to know if buying a BBK Throttle Body would be a good investment or not. And does anyone know if they make a pulley kit for a V6? Any other ideas?

no on the throttle body... you're not going to see any more gains from a larger tb unless you P&P everything to match...
pullies are good... gears+tlok+tuner is a good mod also... I could go on, but just check the link Johnson put up^ |

I'll go ahead and answer that one question for you, then give you a few options.
As for JUST the throttle body-it will give you little to no gains. Primarily due to the fact that all a larger throttle body does is alow MORE air into the intake and without p&ping the intakes, no more air can be let in-therefor the larger throttle body is a waste. Now, for gaining power, you can go a dew different ways. Naturally aspirated-meaning no supercharger or turbo. This is ALL about how much air you can push into the cylinders without using outside means of pushing air. Porting and polishing the heads and upper and lower intakes is a great start to make N/A power. Unfortunetly, you can only make so much power on a N/A v6 motor. Then theres supercharging. A supercharger uses a belt system and is connected to the motor itself. The motor spins the supercharger, building boost-therefor creating more power. As for details, there are other guys on here who can really get into it. Then turbo charging. Turbos run off of exhaust fumes. In most peoples opinion-more efficient and the better route to go. The exhaust spins a turbine-building boost-and forcing MORE air into the cylinders. Also, more guys on here that can go into detail on this subject. Just giving you a basic overview. |

the only way you are going to get a quite a bit of gain with the least money is a supercharger or a turbo. now i know you will not get a s/c or a turbo cause it took me to be in college to get one and have a full time job but gears, tlok (what they said)

Hmm,
You have to be in college with a full time job to buy a supercharger? Don't know how I pulled that off then... or the twin kit... Anyway a v8 is not the only way to make power... In fact we hate v8s... seriously their slow... Yep!
