speedo jacked up

01 3.6 5 speed.

4:10's and a speedcal installed.

recently had a spec stage 2 dropped in. by recent I mean 2 days ago.

Can't get the car past second gear because the speedo is hitting 120 mph causing the rev limiter to kick in.
Revs normally as well. is normal at idle.

this used to be my v6 mustang but it's in Wisconsin so I can't diagnose it properly.

I say VSS but my cousin ( new owner) says the mechanic at ford checked it and it's good.

The mechanic blames it on the speedcal but I call on that and think it's the vss because even without the speedcal it wouldn't be off by that much.
I think something happened to the vss when they did the clutch and don't want to own up and replace the part.

what do you think?

actually think if something is shorted in the speed cal box that it can cause that. The easiest way i would think is to take off the speed cal and see if it still does it
