The future is in your hands
Ill make this semi short. MM has been a huge help this past year for me, i really respect your opinions, and im basically trying to make a five year plan.
I always wanted a fast car (so i bought a v6 mustang, makes sense huh?). I have wasted alot of money on my car this year, but i enjoyed ever second. Now, im thinking bigger, bigger than 75 shots and 7.5 4:10s. I want to do an engine swap in my car. Sounds stupid to some, but i refuse to sell my car. Rosco and I have been though it all, and im not abandoning him. All the work can/will be done by myself, my dad, and a local shop that I got most of my other work done at. My dad has two muscle cars, has done complete resoration on his 70' roadrunner 440 6 barrel (soon to be mine), and I am very confident that we would be able to overcome any speed bump. I understand that there is alot more to an engine swap than just the engine. I am aware that this is a much bigger project than most people think, and that i will regret doing it at multiple ocasions, but i dont care. I basically worked my summer away. I worked two jobs, spent almost ever pay check on my car, took 2 seconds off my et (still only 14), and only drove it for 900 miles (with no inspection or registration). I dont plan on actually starting the swap until i have some serious parts in my garage. With that being said, what direction do you think would have the best outcome. i.e. would be the best hp/money. Im not doing TT or 500 shot or anything too crazy. I am not one to say im going to do something and not do it. This project is a reality if voted, it might take me two three four years, but its starting now. Let me know what you guys think. Flaming welcomed, if you think im a retard for trying this let me know. |

It would be so much easier to buy a gt but if you do an engine swap, get one built don't go with a stock 4.6. You will be so much happier because sooner or later you're going to want to build one up. I'm glad your tossing the v6 btw.

351 swap. Relatively easy and cheap, all saleen s-351's started out as v6 base modles
get 351W engine and tranny combo 2.5k-6k depending on age and hp rating you can get a 400hp set from jegs turn key engine for about 4500 youll need a 94-95 5.0 k member get an 8.8 rear with 31spline axles just for the hell of it. aluminum drive shaft and modified motor mounts some dyno and tuning time to get the computer to work out you should be able to grab a 95 5.0 obd2 system and PCM and be good to go since the 351 is a direct swap for the 302 and your good to go as for registering the engine to be road legal you will need one newer than 04 (I say buy a new built one anyway) it was avalible in the 1999 saleen s-351 so that your comparable model and if it passes smog you should have a beast of a car that street legal

ahhhh whooops, i didnt mean to hit submit. I thought i hit the x and i have been sitting here this whole time saying "im glad i didnt post that thread, i would have really regretted it.".
but owell. Greenfaleen, i really appriciate the opinion. I have never even thought of the 351w for a swap option. I originally wanted to make this a "Poll" thread. I originally wanted to just do a good quality 4v/6 speed swap. But i am just brainstorming right now. Once i get my setup decided upon, im going to make a checklist. It will be broken down into subcategories of "engine, trans, rear, electronics", find %99 of the parts i need, figure out their pricing (multiply it by 1.1 so i have an exaggerated total), and just have at it.

You can't take it back. Replace the 6 cylinder.
