What do you guys trust on your own cars, and what do you reccomend?

+1.. with a K&N oil filter..

call me a high roller but i'd rather use the expensive shit when it comes to oil & filters rather than pay an assload to rplace an engine..


i use mobil1 for break-ins on new motors & then royal purple after that..

i use castrol GTX in my 243+k mile SAAB, which, might I add, has its original timing chain and original turbo(which is a non-water cooled model!)

royal purple is known to free up power... i have seen dyno reports of it... so keep that in mind when you change it next

My mechanic friend recommended I use Castrol GTX so thats what i used last time i changed my oil, but i think i'll go to full synthetics next time around.

... yea... i forgot to mention... what they dyuno results that i saw showed was every lubricant fluid ... (rear diff, tranny, engine) was changed to royal purple synthatic...

okay ive been gettin some stupid shell oil changes lol .. what is this royal purple you speak of? better then mobil 1? and my car only has 300miles if that helps and k&n oil filter whats this all about?

btw what is good gas ... only places around here is chevron , shell , mobil , 76
and ive been putting in shell 91 V-power ... and ive heard alot of good things about the chevron with techron stuff lol

In my 2000 v6 all I use is royal purple in my oil, tranny, and rear end. W/ k&n oil filter.

I'n my 89 5.0 I use valvoline maxlife synthetic, with k&n oil filter.

I like to change my oil every 1500 miles when it starts to turn dark.
(it might be a little over kill, but the engines look cleaner inside then when I first got them.)

does it matter if i switch oils. say from just normal oil to synthetic or would it even matter? i have a few bottles of royal purple in the garage im going to use anyways. my bros TA is gone so i guess ill jack his oil
