V6 fog lights to cobra fog lights

to make this short and sweet...i have a 2003 or 04 cobra front bumper. I am getting ready to install fog lights. My problem is my car didn't come with fog lights so no wiring harness or anything. I went to the dealership and they sold me the fog lights...everything that i need for it...except the wiring harness. They told me it was 300 some dollars for the wiring harness! I was wondering if i could put the pig tail on the end of the light...and wire it to the headlight knob? or if i could just buy a GT wiring harness from a salvage yard and it would work? anyone have any ideas?

do you have the spot for the fog light switch in ur center console behind or in front of the shifter? if so u can wire it up to that and it will work. when i did mine, i wired it right up to the foglight switch and they work just like stock

when i do mine I am going to tap into the parking lights and use those as the main power. Yes this limits control of the lights. Yes it is really simple to wire with just a few quick extensions and taps.

I need to find some self tapping screws for my lights though

I did mine by running the fog wires to a relay and wires from the relay to the seat adjustor fuse(turns off with car) and the other wires to the switch. I then did the mod to make the switch an on off like you see on the mustangworld how to. Works like a charm.

It only illegal to have them on with the brights on. For me to make my own kit it cost 30 for the fog light switch, 5 for the relay, 5 for some wire caps, and roughly 10-20 bucks for some rolls of wire. You're probably not going to have the switch but if you have the place where it would be you can buy and install the switch

In Illinois its legal to drive with brights on but there are rules as to the distance you are from other cars.

yeah i meant brights. my bad. and i dont think a cop would really think about it if he did see my brights on for a second and me having the fog lights one. i have the space in my dash for the fog light switch but then i'd have to have the end that plugs into the switch and everything else which would need me to have the full wiring harness. i think i'll just wire it to the headlight knob.

Fogs should be wired in with your low beams. They should turn off if your brights are on.
