Awesome..ok, well i have one more question...
so i've decided that i want to install some new headers in my 96 mustang. what brand do ya'll recommend? And where do i find them, cause i was looking on ebay, and MAC headers only cost 200 bucks, and i figured i was gonna be spending a LOT more money. I'm new at all this, what would be the best way to approach buying headers and then installing them in my car? |

If your not getting long tube hearders dont waste your time. Mac, flowtech, and pace setter sell long tubes. but mac is a better brand. The others are cheep. The best approch is but the headers and take them to a exhaust shop. bc you will need a mid pipe unless you buy one like i did. Then you will also need a gt cat back system. so it will be alot more then $200

There has been some pretty good advice. If you want to go the exhaust route, don't just get headers you need to do the whole exhaust. As has been stated while you will get a bit of a performance gain from exhaust...it will be pretty small. In fact, without a tune you might not even notice it. For performance at this point your two best options are either gears and a t-lok, or the split port swap. Both are a very good option. If you can install it yourself, you can get a split port swap for $800. It will give you +40HP. After having them installed for you, gears and a t-lok will cost arounds the same (maybe a little bit cheaper). They won't give you any more HP at all, but they will give you a HUGE gain in TQ. Remember as the great Carrol Shelby once said, "HP sells cars, TQ wins races".

oh yeah and +1 catless exhaust sounds like shit on a single port. But that is totally just my opinion.
