1996 Looking for More Power

Hey all! I have a 1996 Ford Mustang (base model: 3.8L 6 Cylinder)

I'm looking to do some work on the car so that i can get more power (ie. more horsepower, go faster, better engine noise, etc)

I was just wondering if anyone had any input as to what i should do first, I want to spend the least amount of money possible, however I am not afraid of spending a little bit for my mustang. (Pref. in the hundreds rather than thousands)

Anyway, any help on what I should do to get more power would be awesome! Thanks a lot!

you want any amount of power your gonna spend money, if your not prepared to spend atleast 2k on the car your not gonna notice much.

best cheaper things to do is
4.10 gears and t-lok about 600-800 installed take a good .5 sec off your ET
nitrous~800
tuner~350
split port swap or just sale yours and buy a 99-04 v6

yup, and 15 is even a stretch cai is maybe 1 to the rear wheels, and full exhaust including header you can see about 20-25, for just a cat back maybe 8

4.2L split port swap.

go from 150 base hp to 205hp and more torque. not to mention a better platform for mods.

Yes go with the gears and tlok...they cost me about as much as the full exhaust w/the long tubes, but the car is waaaaaay quicker. By far the best mod short of f/i

split port swap. you can find them pretty easily and they are decently cheap. puts you to 190 crank hp.

That and its kind of rediculous to buy a cold air intake for 30 bucks, when your car has had a misfire or a shit stained air filter for a month, fix the car so it runs better before doing mods

well, if his problem was a clogged air filter, a cai would fix the problem, and then some.
