the burden of proof is not on the defendant. the plaintiff bears the burden of proof. i am the defendant in this situation. you are the plaintiff.

you are defending the fact that a v6 is cheaper to purchase and make faster than a stock GT.

It's your job to prove it to me.

This is not a court house where you are innocent until proven guilty.
you made an argument. prove it.

as a side note this should probably be moved to the clubhouse because we whored it up pretty badly.

i stated a fact.
you pursued an argument.
if the OP would like to take my advice, that is fine with me.
if the OP would rather pursue another route, that is fine with me.

You are correct. I did. I still don't see you defending it with fact though.

my advice to you as owning BOTH a 2001 v6 and a 2001 GT is as follows:
(nitrous) Full bolt ons (nitrous) drag radials (nitrous) a traction lock (nitrous)
A good tune (nitrous) and a bunch of suspension mods.
Nitrous would help out a bit as well.

quit bickering you two...lol

doesn't matter if you win with a GT or a 6er... you're still slow

yes, insurance can be the deciding factor, but for some people, like me, even if the insurance is similar I don't want to get a GT yet because I'd rather wait until I can get a 4v...
and since the cost of ownership for a 4v is much more for someone under 25 than it is for a Gt or 6er... might as well buy some mods for the 6er in the meantime, especially since things like the DR's and tuner can be used on the V8 whenever you get it...

as for answering the OP's question... gears, tlok, tune, basic bolt ons... basically whatever you've been hearing up until the thread hijack

To both of you:

My insurance was about 1800 (rounded) for my V6 when i was 16. The insurance for a GT of the same year with the same policy at the same age was about 3000. This equals about $100 per month extra for a GT.

That helps out AB some.

HOWEVER, given the same driver in each car, the GT would be faster. That is not saying a semi modded V6 will never beat a GT because it is possible (usually the driver factor).

This is just my opinion with my facts of insurance quotes. If ya dont like it, then i'll see my way out.

yes they are!

they are also similar in HP so it a close race.

a s197 v6 is what? 205 HP?

a 96-98 GT doesn't have much more. 215-220 I believe.

that's a close race right there. a 70 crank HP difference tends to be a big one though.

on a 14 second car, general rule of thumb is 100 lbs is 1 tenth in the quarter. the v6 is lighter.

AB is right on the money with that post.

It's really a drivers race between those 2 cars with the 98 having a slight edge.

I think it's around 3300 pounds or so.

the GT (98) should be around the same though.
