MAF sensor question (with pics)
1997 V6
I am trying to take off my MAF sensor so I can clean the wire and I noticed 2 obstacles I needed to get past. One was a Torx T20 security bit screw which I got off (LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER of the MAF sensor) but the other (UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER of the MAF sensor) looks just like a screw without any type of head.. just round and clean. how do I get that off? I dont think there is enough room for plyers.. or is even the correct way to get it off. It may be hard to see but I guess if anyone has gotten it off, they know what to do. I am guessing one would just have to turn it to the side and it will somehow screw off or come off? thanks for the info.

no need to take it off take off the housing and spray it that way itll keep some distance from the can and keep you from damaging the MAF. im pretty sure to get it out the way your thinking you have to pop the plastic sticking out of the mteal ring back through ;like a clip

first make pics a lil smaller so we can see em. second, gf is right, just take the whole piece out with the housing attached and clean it from there...it makes it so u cant get too close to it and mess it up

ive took the entire MAF housing and everything apart the other day and when you look at it from the inside all you see is the metal. you dont see whats "under" the black piece. Isnt there suppose to be a wire, the actual sensor under it? I dont see how you can get to it unless you take the black part apart.

Yeah there is a wire in there, but it is VERY sensitive. Spray around that area inside the housing really well. That should do the trick.

ohh alright. I thought the wire itself had to sprayed by what I read somewhere before, that is why I was trying to get access to it.

One of the fasteners looks like a rivet which you could drill out. But I think they are trying to discourage you from taking it apart.
