Gas pedal doesent move very far.....

Just curious, but why do I only have to push my pedal down like 2 inches before the gas is 100% throttle? At first I though the throttle cable slipped and I wasn't getting full throttle when the pedal was pressed all the way, but after propping it all the way down with a stick it looks like the throttle body is wide open.
I can pull back on the gas pedal quite a bit. is there any way to adjust this?
