03 V6 Mustang vs Mazda MPV minivan.

Seriously, my parents minivan seems like it goes quicker than my new 03 V6 completely stock automatic. What should my first mod be ?

I have heard that the gears are not a good idea if it is going to be used on the highway a lot. Is that true?

4.10s wouldent be a good idea if you do a lot of highway driving.... Get 3.73 those r a better all around gear.

Okay, I hear about t-lok alot too. does that have any impact on acceleration or does it just make it so just 1 tire wont spin. Are the gears and Tlok both in the rear differential? I suppose this isnt really a DIY job? My brother is a mechanic and can help me but is it more of a specialist job that any old mechanic couldnt do?

Thanks for that but it doesent really say anything about how it will affect highway driving or how or how to install it.

thats just a good thread for seeing what mods to do.
u need a good shop to install gears and tlok, its something that can be messed up easily. as far as highway driving, if u drive on the highway a lot then go with 3.73s, but if its just every now and then go ahead with the 4.10s

gears wont bother your highway driving at all. I have a 4.26 gear ratio in my tC and i drive 3 hours on the highway to go home from college all the time. get 4.10s and t-lok and you will be much happier

Okay so both of those have to do with the rear end differential right? Can someone point me to somewhere that sells those 2 things?
Do people say that the 4.1's are bad for highway because of some sort of risk for mechanical failure with higher rpms or just because of the lowered gas mileage? What kind of drops in gas mileage would I see?

it prolly will drop some, but yea running high rpm is just harder on the motor over time. yea both tlok and gears go in the rear

and its mainly for the decrease in gasmiliage you will lose 1 or 2 mpg

Thanks for all your help. I look forward to updating everyone on my progress. So that is the first mod that you all recommend for performance? Then I was thinking maybe a tuner and an exhaust after that.

Sorry, 1 more question that I couldnt find on your mods page. Are the tuners something that you have to manually tune at a dyno shop or do they have preset parameters that you use?

i have 4.10s and do highway driving and they arent that bad. at first you won't like it cuz it revs at like 3000 rpms doing about 76-78 mph and about 3200 rpms at 80 mph. so when i stay around 70ish mph i get 24-26 mpg. the acceleration is definitely fun even on the highway when trying to pass a car.

you can get a tuner and use the settings that come with it, but if you are heavily modded then definitely get it dyno tuned. so in other words to answer your question the tuner does have preset parameters you can use, but a dyno shop that supports your tuner software will get you better hp/tq numbers and a safer tune for ur car.
