8.8 rearend
I currently own a 2002 V-6 mustang. I am looking to put the 8.8 rear axle in the mustang. I was wondering if any axle from a mustang gt will work. I have pretty good mechanic skills and i have a lift i can use. The reason i am getting an 8.8 is the strength and im looking to get a posi. So do all of the mustang gts have posi rearends or would i need to buy a locking differential. Any advice on the install or what axle to get is greatly appreciated. One last question is i heard u need a v-6 adapter flange to get the drive shaft to bolt up. Where can you buy this adapter flange? I know i have seen 8.8 with this on newtakeoff.com but im hoping to get one from a salvage yard around where i live.

all GT's have a clutch type posi, or as FoMoCo calls them "Traction Lock" from the factory and you'll want a 1999 to 2004 housing and any parts need for the install, like the pinion flange can-be gotten thru your local Ford dealer, or if there of no help, contact me...

stock there is absolutely no reason for a 8.8 in a six, if your going to start modifying it and make like over 285 to the rear wheels id def swap it out, if your just going to be running bolt ons you can just make the 7.5 posi, not sure on the prices but it might just be more expensive to do that, check out how much you can get a 8.8 for
