motor Down
yupp its very drivable and raceable just blown
piston ring in cylinder #5 or #6 is more then likely blown a good amount of blue/white smoke cam pouring out the exhaust after testing a break boost. this was actually accomplished on 10psi and pump gas. not the race tune. My guess is to much timing. my race gas tune saw up to 18degrees of timing. even though thats race gas. im debating what i want to do with the motor i'll tear it down this week. depending on rod condition, crankshaft journel condition and piston ring gland condition i may do a stock rebuild or go all out. i really want to do a stock rebuild with better piston rings that requires no tuning. im still going to make 400rwhp on pump gas and 437rwhp on race fuel and i can find out what my 1/4 times woulda been. im really curious i know the motor will hold for at least 1-2months on 10psi as it already has done it. im going to be doing either a stock rebuild or getting a junk yard short block and slapping my top end on it. i'll report my lower intake since i rushed it last time. and re-port the heads as well just better gasket match last time had small areas i missed and the exhaust wasnt large enough for the camshaft i picked i'll get it re-tune just because the minor porting. my guess is 405rwhp and 440rwhp on the race fuel lol we'll see March i can GARUNTEE will be when the 4.2 stroker thread comes in

unless for financial reasons why even bother with tearing into your engine just to replace rings. if you can afford to do it all now why would you want to do it all again in march.

theres a highly good change i may build a 3.8
rev's quicker, still capable of good power and for a turbo. a car reving to 6700rpms is better even though a 4.2 could do the same im still undecided

the hp will be the same torque will be a tad lower but with a boost motor who really cares

Why dont you just wait, get everything exactly how you want it, then doing it once and forgetting about it? I know you said you like doing it, but i bet some things get old after a while. |
