Performance mufflers?

I was just wondering what a performance muffler would do for my 2003 V6. I have heard that the full exhaust doesent give much gains anyways so if I just got a performance muffler would it be close to the same amount of gains? Do they give a more aggressive sound?

If you want the most power from exhaust your going to spend a littel bit of money. LT headers, mid pipe, and catback. Mac lts, most prefer h pipes on v6s, but I love my o/r x, and flowmaster is a good tone on our cars. I have pypes and it sounds like a diesel, but being a broke high school student is prohibiting my from fixing that right now, haha.

Mac catback. Cheapest, easiest to install, sounds great on stock motored v6's.

you need racing headlight bulbs too, to see the most gain.

ha. I think the GT badge will get me more horesepower. 15-20 right?

Seriously though, at what point does the stock exhause become a bottleneck and which part is the bottleneck? I dont want to spend a ton of money on the exhaust since it doesent give a whole lot of gains so I am wondering if just a muffler will free up some backpressure and make it sound more aggressive. Anything that I can do myself without having to take it to a shop.

the manifold collectors.

you can change the mufflers. its not going to help much but it will change your sound. If you want to get a performance gain for not a lot and have some skill and patience, Re-Gear your car in your drive way.

its a very precise job but it can be done.

just sayin. good luck.

wow, that post shows i just woke up

the whole system "Bottle Necks", most people blame the Catalytic converters, some say the pipe sizing, others point to headers.

thats why i re-did the whole system. go ahead and change the mufflers with some 2.25 inch piping ones, you will get a nice sound and maybe a bit of increase. if you are ballsy, remove the cats, if you can afford it take it to the shop and get a true dual set up.
