Shock To The Hand Upon Exit

Every so often i get shocked when i open my door and go to close it, is there a bad ground somewhere or something cause this shock therapy is getting really old....

na that's just static electricity. Usually only happens alot in cold weather because the air is more dense

no it is cause it is more dense, the shock has less distance to travel between molecules so you feel a stronger shock, dryness has nothing to do with it remember water is a great conductor

nope. Since the air is dryer, there is less chances for the electricity to ground out and disapate. Since the air is "wetter", the electric charge cant grow into somthing you can feel because it disapates more often. So basically the electricity collects until it finds a great ground, ie the hand touching the car, and then boom.

go throw your shirt in the dryer, for an hour, so it gets super dry. Then put it on, it will stick to you until you put water on it.

but dense air is a better conductor look at places like arizona in dry heat you still dont get shocked since the static your body produces getting out of the car dissapates and water on a sweater kills the static shock since the fibers no longer rub together the water sticks them together

i did hear that in texas, since the air has been so dry lately more and more cars were getting burnt from people having static and fueling upon,.

Dry air preferred

Static electricity is formed much better when the air is dry or the humidity is low. When the air is humid, water molecules can collect on the surface of various materials. This can prevent the buildup of electrical charges. The reason has to do with the shape of the water molecule and its own electrical forces.

yes dry air is a better cause of electric shock but it happens more in winter because the air is denser

dont get out of the car so fast. or dont touch the metal on your door when you close it or put a piece of rubber trim on your door so you can close it with that

Having cloth seats doen't help one damn bit either...that shit hurts. Wait till you get zapped on a healing sore. It will hurt for a while.

Grab the outside of the door or something metal before and while you exit the vehicle. Or, close the door by pushing on the window with your fingertips.
