Wanted: 4.6 engine for 2000 GT

Hi guys,

I have a 2000 GT Convertible that needs a new engine. I was told today that the back rod bearing is shot. I did notice pinging for a couple of weeks and i took it to the local dealer and sure enough, they said it was the rod bearings.

I live in Southern Indiana and I need a motor for my baby! Can anyone help me out? I want a good one of course, preferably low mileage.

Why a 4.6 GT engine? If I were forced into a new engine I wouldnt feel guilty spending a little extra money on a 5.4 or maybe a blown cobra engine....Just a thought. Good luck on finding an engine and I will let you know if I see anything.

Simply because that was what I had in it to begin with and I have been so depressed over it I never even thought of anything else. Thanks! I am open to anything at this point but that is an excellent idea.

the motor thats coming out of my car might be for sale if the guy that wanted it 1st never gets back to me and i can't remember who it was to contact him.
its a 4.6L PI out of a 2003 GT,its got roughly 40k on the clock but i will tell you 10k of it are hard supercharged miles.
I was gonna get the guy whose putting in my new motor to go thru it and check it out real good before i do sell it.
Like i said if the guy who wanted it doesn't contact me by the time it gets ready to come out then its fair game cuz i don't have anywhere to store it and i don't want a whole motor just sitting in my garage in the way. i hate clutter. PM me so i can keep track of you so when the time comes i'll be able to remember who you are. I don't know how you wanna work out the details but i'm sure freight on a motor to IN from TN won't be cheap.

Rod bearing? Is it missing? Only reason i ask is because about 6 months ago mine started pinging and a shop told me it was a rod bearing. Stupid me took their word.... after removing the engine found that the rocker on the drivers side in the back came off. Does it miss ? If so it might be a rocker, but if its not missing then probably is a bearing.

to bad I havent bought my shortblock from MMR yet. I would sell you my stock motor with 22,000 miles on it. But PM me and offer a price and I might be able to pull something.

We have a brand new Cobra shortblock that we are selling for $2500 shipped anywhere in the 48 states. It is a production 2003/04 Cobra shortblock with the following parts:

Ford Racing Romeo Cast Iron Block
Cobra Forged Steel Crank
Manley H-Beam Rods
Mahle Forged Pistons
Ford Racing High Volume Oil Pump

i know where a FULL lightning engine is for 1k.... im sure you could get everything you needed from the guy... his truck is totalled and just partin it out...

i will sale you mine for $6,000

dss stroker, vt stage 2 heads, comp stage 2 cams, makes 305 rwhp and 345 ft lbs of tq on motor. made 485 rwhp and 600 ft lbs of torque on a 150 shot. its a $10,000 motor and has about 8,000 miles on it. lemme know if your interested
