BBK Customer Response Email
I recently sent BBK an email in response to some issues I had with their bolt-on subframe connectors.
Here is the response I received and my response to them in return. Subject: BBK Performance Parts - Contact Form Comments I recently purchased your subframe connectors model 2542. These would not fit without me cutting the rear bolt on bracket, and the front bracket holes did not line up with the holes in the subframe. I had them welded on, as they could not be bolted on as per your instruction sheet. I expected better quality work from a BBK product. I also ordered a new 3 inch CAI rubber connector to the TB and it is nothing like the original. I plan on shipping it back since it's not even close to the orginal part when I ordered the CAI kit. From: bbkperformance-mbriggs <mbriggs@bbkperformance.com> Subject: RE: BBK Performance Parts - Contact Form To: hlmiller5411@bellsouth.net Date: Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 11:13 AM Sometimes with those subframe connectors there can be an issue with the holes. All cars are not quite the same in the sense that they could have been in accidents and repaired or stressed and the holes won't line up. They are sold as bolt in or weld in. As for the cold air intake connector, there must have been some confusion as to which connector you needed. If you send me the info on what the kit is on and which one you need we can try again. Mike Briggs BBK Performance R&D mbriggs@bbkperformance.com BBK: Performance Parts 951-296-1771 ext. 312 My reply email to Mike Briggs: Mike, I appreciate the response. However, my car has not been in an accident, and it has not been stressed to the point the doors don't close properly. With the subframe connector seat bracket brace placed on the seat bolts, the front bracket plate would not align with the holes in my subframe. As for the rear bracket plate, it was hitting against the bend in the subframe. So I had to cut the outer side of the rear bracket plate on both sides. If I had tired to align the holes in the car's subframe with the subframe connector bracket, the seat brace would not align with the seat bolts. As I read your response, I couldn't help but think what kind of a company representative would make such a response without first asking more questions. As a forum member of multiple Mustang websites and a member of the Mustang Club of America and a two local Mustang clubs it amazes me how some companies forget the word of mouth from an individual can do some unmeasured harm or good to a company's reputation and business. I thought you would have been more concerned with contacting me in person to ascertain what the issues were so you could possibly determine if you have some workmanship or quality issues with your product suppliers. It will be my pleasure to post this email on the multiple Mustang forums so my fellow Mustang enthusiasts can see what kind of response to receive if they should have issues with your products. I have several BBK products on my Mustang, but I will no longer purchase another BBK product once I get the correct rubber CAI/TB connector. Sincerely, Henry Miller

subframes should only be bolted in to hold it while you weld... But yeah that does suck it didn't line up!

Wow, that's some great customer service right there. You're certainly not the first person who has had bad things to say about the quality/materials used in their products.

yeah I got the BBK 78mm Combo. I like it but the trottle sticks slightly. My tuner said BBK's can do that.

Nice man good for you. BBK Sucks, I will never ever buy another product from them. The BBK offroad X Pipe was absolutley atrosious. It wouldnt even lign up to the Driver side exhaust manifold correctly. I had to shave part of the flange to make it fit half way decent. Even going to the catback it doesnt fit that good, at all.
BBK is pathetic, and Ive heard bad things from them all the time. Good email though, did he say anything back to you?

I've heard bad things about BBK but never bad enough to keep me from ordering from them. I was thinking of getting a throttle body from them but it looks like Accufab will get my business instead.

I'm not a fan of bbk, but I've had the 78mm t/b plenum on for a while now and never had any problems with it. Operational or fitment.

I've heard of issue w/ the their TB's but thats about it. I have their LT's & O/R X and haven't had a single issue w/ them. Fitment was perfect and the install was pretty simple... guess the issues are pretty much just w/ you new edge guys

You know, honestly, I don't see what the CS rep did wrong. Either the product is good, and in most of the cases where it doesn't fit right it is because of an accident, or the product is crap, he knows it, and he's just trying to do his job. Either way, he offered to take care of the CAI connector.
You got all bitchy when he didn't immediately grovel and offer to fellate you as soon as you expressed the slightest hint of unhappiness with the product. If the SFCs were really that bad, why would you continue your installation of them? Why wouldn't you have immediately got ahold of BBK, rather than modifying them to fit, and proceding to weld them on? It's not like he can do anything about the SFCs at this point - they're already permanently affixed to your car. It's not like you can ship them back and he can send you a new pair. Were I a business owner, I would honestly have no interest in having you as a customer.
