AM Card Explanation
I'm simply looking for an explanation from AMStanger for the statement/issue made in this thread:
American Muscle Basically, Casper claims he never gave his card security code and was charged for his order. AMStanger said cards can not be charged w/out the customer giving the security code and the security codes are not stored by AM. I simply want an explanation of the discrepancy. DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A FLAME THREAD. If there was only 1 response from AMStanger that would be great (clidefrog, do not come in here offering your explanation. That's not the purpose of this thread). I only want/care about the response from AMStanger or a company rep from AM. The only reason this is not a PM is b/c there are others that want an explanation (as seen in other thread).

I'm sorry that this question lingered over the weekend, but I'm only in the office M-F. Please bear with me for the explanation, as things can get very complicated with credit cards, etc.
First off, I need to apologize, as I was only half correct. Currently, Internet orders can't be processed without a security code, but manual orders can. When I was working as a customer service rep, we were told that manual orders can't be placed without complete credit card info, since at the time they couldn't. It seems that one of our system updates has changed that recently, and we are changing the order-processing system back. I'm still not sure why the customer service rep in question didn't ask for the security code to run the card, but he's been spoken to about that, and it won't happen again. We are an Internet-based business, and we take credit card security very, very seriously. Reps can only view the last four digits of an account to confirm the card number, and we also have what is called a bin (bank identification) check system in place. Basically, if the information we have doesn't match the information your bank has listed for you (address, etc), then we put the order on hold before we charge the card. We then contact you to double-check the information is correct and ask for information that someone using a card fraudulently wouldn't normally have access to. We don't charge the card until we receive the correct response, indicating that the order is not fraud. We monitor fraud claims very strictly, and have an excellent record of fraud prevention. I apologize for the confusion, and for the initial misinformation. Please feel free to let me know if there are any points you'd like to have clarified further, or if I've botched and explanation anywhere.
