install doesn't matter my mechanic is a family friend and he takes it easy on what he charges, so i take it then that i need to get springs and retainers for a good cam mod.. what would be a good spring and retainer for the 216/224 i dont want to go too extreme

How much did you pay for the engine? I know 5.4 s/c from Ford Racing is ~$15,000. Hell, the Ford Racing cold air intake is $600.

never go to ford for parts unless you ABSOLUTLY have to.
$15k for an engine is REDICULOUS. ive seen 500+hp engines for $12k and i thought that was shit expensive

then ive seen 400tq,450whp engines sell for under $3k...in parts =)
then you build it

I was just wondering where this shop is at I see u are in texas and if it is the same one i am thinking of I would have never had anything built from them.
