Cool

Track day: Infineon

My Jim Russell High Performance Driving school day finally arrived...

Met up with 11 other pepes and had an absolute blast Fortunately, I had my camera all set up with plenty of storage, but my extra battery did not show up in time, so missed out on the last 20 minutes of my roundy-round session Bummer, as I was really starting to hit my stride by this point and pushing over 80 mph on several sections.

Car responded beautifully and had NO mechanical issues whatever. Brakes NEVER faded, even though they was on fire after each session. I guess the DOT 4 fluid and all SS lines payed off! The brakes actually got better as they got hotter, so was a pleasant surprise. Did quite a bit of damage to my shoes though. I figure I took about 25% of my R888's life in a single day of hard driving

I am uploading a vid late in the second session just about 15 minutes prior to my battery dying on camera. This is a SL65 Bi-Turbo V12 Mercedes and kicked my little but on the straights. I was steady in catching him on the corners, but just a bit of straight and he was gone baby.

The rides of the day with the SL65 directly behind me:

I will add some video as soon as it gets done uploading. This is a 1.36 GB file and 15 minutes long, so takes a while

You need to get rid of that rev limiter, man.

Actually, you would have been proud of me, I was well over 5K on MANY occasions

I seem to remember asking my tuner to set it as a 5K limit, but appearantly not. I was probably capable of reaching 100 MPH at times, but don't think I ever did. I gotta tell ya, hitting 85 MPH coming down through #5 was moving at a pretty darn good clip and about as fast as I was comfortable during the day. By the last 10~12 laps, I was in a good groove of 4th gear and doing 85 MPH or so from bottom of #6 and approaching probably 95 MPH up to #7. Shortly after #7a and coming up to serious braking/downshifting for #11, I was in 4th gear and into the throttle to approx. 3K RPM. I rarely even looked at the speedo or tach, as things move pretty fast and can get into some SERIOUS trouble if off-line on MANY of those turns I described and a bunch I didn't

My video finally finished uploading and is 15 minutes long. The file is 1.36 GB and very good quality. This is late in first session of track and was a little shy of the fastest I went during the day. Unfortunately, my fastest times were not recorded as my camera battery ran out. I had an extra on order, but it never showed up. I got an email an hour after I got home, saying Amazon seller could not get my battery and cancelled my order I have since re-ordered one, but too late now

Here is another as it is pretty short:
